About Halcyon

Halcyon is a private retreat house on the shore of Lake Hopatcong in northern New Jersey. We built it for small groups who want quiet, good food, open water and room to think, whether that is a team offsite, a wellness weekend, or a few days away with people who matter to you.

We are a house and a host. We look after the setting: the rooms, the meals, the light on the lake in the morning. For anything clinical, we work alongside licensed professionals who lead their own programs and carry their own professional responsibility. Halcyon does not provide medical or clinical services itself.

Our partner in Colorado

Some guests ask about psilocybin. Psilocybin services are not offered in New Jersey, and our New Jersey house does not offer psilocybin. For people who want to explore it in a legal, regulated setting, we partner with Maureen Lennon-Schafer, LCSW, of Presence of Mind Therapy.

Maureen holds degrees in psychology and social work and is licensed to practice in New Jersey and Colorado. She is a Licensed Natural Medicine Facilitator of Psilocybin in Colorado and completed Fluence's Natural Medicine Facilitation of Psilocybin Certificate program. She leads small three-day retreats in Colorado under the state's natural medicine program. See the Boulder retreat page for details, and our Colorado psilocybin guide for the legal background.

What we look after

When a practitioner brings a group to Halcyon, we take care of the parts that let people settle in: comfortable rooms, meals, quiet spaces indoors and out, and a house that works for a small group without feeling like a hotel. The practitioner leads the program. That division is deliberate. It means the people guiding the work are the ones trained and licensed to do it, and it lets us focus on doing our part well.

We also try to be a useful first stop for information. Many people who find us are trying to understand what is legal, what is responsible, and whom to trust. Our guides are written to answer those questions plainly, with sources, so you can make your own decision.

How we think about this work

We would rather be honest than persuasive. We do not promise outcomes, and we do not pretend any experience is without risk. Research on psilocybin is ongoing, and people's experiences vary. What we can promise is care with the details: clear information, licensed professionals, careful screening, and a calm place to land.

If you are unsure whether any of this is right for you, start with our safety page. If you are in crisis, call or text 988.
