Terms of Service
Version 1.0.0 · Effective 2026-08-18
The agreement covering a stay: how booking works, what is owed and when, and how cancellation is handled.
1Who these terms are between
These terms are between you and Halcyon Hilltop, 147 McGregor Avenue, Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey. They apply when you request a retreat through this website.
2A request is not a booking
Halcyon does not sell instant bookings. When you build a retreat and submit it, you are making a request. We read every request by hand and reply personally, usually within a day.
No contract exists until we confirm your retreat in writing. Until then your dates are held, not booked, and we may decline a request without giving a reason. If we decline, anything you have paid is returned in full.
3What you pay, and when
The property is $1,600 per night, and each service you add is priced individually on the page where you choose it. Stays are limited to 3 nights.
Payment is taken in three parts, each a cumulative share of the total:
- 25% when you submit your request, which holds the dates while we review it;
- 50% in total, 14 days before you arrive;
- the balance, 48 hours before you arrive.
If you book close to your arrival date, any milestone that has already passed is collected at the time of booking. That means a request made inside 48 hours of arrival is payable in full immediately. It is never less than the schedule above.
Payments are taken by Stripe from the card you use at checkout. We do not see or store your card number.
4Cancellation and refunds
Cancel before your final payment and we refund up to 80% of your booking. 20% of the venue and services cost is non-refundable, and after the final payment there is no refund.
If we cancel, for any reason, you are refunded in full including the non-refundable portion. That is the difference between you changing your mind and us failing to deliver.
5Practitioners
Wellness services are delivered by independent practitioners we select and engage. They are not our employees. We choose who appears on the roster and we remain responsible for the information you give us, but the practice itself is theirs.
Nothing offered at Halcyon is medical care. Our practitioners do not diagnose, treat, or prescribe, and nothing here is a substitute for advice from a doctor. If you have a health condition, please speak to your own clinician before booking, and tell us what we need to know to look after you.
6If something changes
Occasionally a practitioner falls ill or the property becomes unavailable through no fault of ours: weather, utility failure, or anything else outside our reasonable control. Where that happens we will offer you the nearest equivalent, a new date, or a refund of the affected part. We will not leave you out of pocket for something we could not deliver.
7Your conduct at the house
Halcyon is a small private house shared with other guests and with the people who work there. We may end a stay without refund for behaviour that endangers or seriously disturbs anyone. We would rather never use this clause, and it is here so that it exists if we must.
8Your information
What we collect and who sees it is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
9Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of New Jersey, and the courts of New Jersey have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
