Architectural stillness

A room can hold its breath, or it can let it out. Most rooms hold it. Hard edges, bright light, surfaces that ask for attention. We designed against all of that.

The house is low and long against the hill, cream and bone and unfinished wood, so the eye finds nothing to snag on. Light enters sideways in the morning and leaves the same way at dusk. The water is visible from nearly every room, because the water is the point.

New Age Northeast is not a style so much as a discipline of subtraction. We asked, of every wall and every window, whether it made the place quieter. If it did not, it did not stay.

The result is a sanctuary that breathes with whoever is in it. You do not notice the architecture. You notice that you have exhaled.
